Beach Gynastics 7 - Disaster!
June 23, 2016
Decided I was happy with where I'd got to on this one and so decided to finish. I had ordered some acrylic pouring gel to try and give a thick, transparent, glaze (hopefully to give a sort of enamel effect).
Either the marker acrylic wasn't dry enough, or there is a compatibility issue between the marker acrylic and the acrylic pouring gel. With my previous attempts (on the other pointillism paintings) to get a thick gloss finish I had used a car spray paint lacquer. That hadn't given a think enough finish, hence this idea with the pouring gel.
If the issue is compatibility then I may need to seal with lacquer before using this gel on the marker acrylic, however I suspect it just wasn't dry enough (although it had been at least a day) as the under layers seems pretty well fixed.
So, the above is what remained after my attempt to remove the gel. Detail removed and smudging of the black paint I had last put on the sand dunes is evident.
